Consolée Nisingizwe
Consolee is an intern at Climate Adaptation Research & Consulting (CARC), a PlanAdapt affiliate based in Kigali, Rwanda. She joined the organisation through the Work-Integrated Learning Programme delivered in collaboration with the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS Rwanda).
She has an academic background in Physics, Atmospheric and Climate Science, complemented by strong analytical and data science capabilities. During her internship at the Rwanda Space Agency, she gained practical experience in climate and atmospheric data analysis, environmental monitoring, data cleaning, preprocessing, visualisation, and interpretation. This role strengthened her ability to work with environmental datasets and translate climate information into evidence that can support sound decision-making.
Consolee holds a Master of Science in Mathematical Sciences, specialising in Data Science, from AIMS Rwanda. Her training covered machine learning, statistical modelling, mathematical optimisation, topological data analysis, neural networks, and scientific programming. Her master’s research examined how topology and neural networks can be used to learn rigid body dynamics. This work deepened her expertise in artificial intelligence, computational modelling, and advanced scientific analysis.
Through her current placement at CARC, Consolee is further strengthening her expertise in applied climate adaptation research, climate risk management and analysis, and the development of locally grounded, evidence-based solutions. CARC works with public institutions, private organisations, development partners, and communities to develop locally relevant responses to climate risk through applied research, technical advisory services, capacity development, and knowledge exchange. Its work spans sectors such as agriculture, water resources, urban development, infrastructure, and disaster risk management.
Consolee’s combination of atmospheric science, data science, artificial intelligence, and scientific computing is closely aligned with CARC’s mission. She is particularly interested in using advanced analytical methods to turn complex climate and environmental data into clear, practical insights that can strengthen resilience, inform policy, improve planning, and support sustainable development in Rwanda.
