Marcia Trento

Marcia is a PlanAdapt Fellow based in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

She is an urban planner and urban designer with 9 years of experience in different countries such as Brazil, Denmark, and Ghana. Her expertise and areas of interest lie in governance, slum upgrading, nature-based solutions, rainwater management, and participatory processes for community engagement. Her educational and practice track led her to be able to work within a holistic approach towards the urban environment, from urban design to policy formulation and qualitative research. Marcia combines experience from NGO (Techo-Brazil), architecture offices (Boldarini Arquitetos Associados and Henning Larsen Architects), the public sector (Sao Paulo Municipal Urban Development Department), international cooperation agencies (the German development cooperation in Ghana GIZ-Ghana), and academic research (Sao Paulo University in Brazil and Universidad Privada del Este in Paraguay). The different roles she has played bring her a holistic approach to every project and aptitude to work with stakeholders.

Marcia holds a MSc. in Landscape Architecture from the University of Copenhagen, a MSc. in Architecture and Urban Planning, and a post-graduation in Urban Planning and Public Management from the University of Sao Paulo. Her dissertation researches were about playable cities, housing precariousness in South Brazil, and local development for a peripherical area in Sao Paulo.
