Linda Ingabire

Linda is an intern at Climate Adaptation Research and Consulting (CARC), a PlanAdapt affiliate, based in Kigali, Rwanda, under the framework of the Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) Program in collaboration with the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) in Rwanda.

She has a background in Atmosphere and Climate Science, blending her scientific knowledge with analytical and data science skills. She gained practical experience as a Climate Observer and Climate Analyst during her internship at the Rwanda Space Agency, where she actively contributed to climate monitoring, data collection, quality control, and environmental analysis projects. In this role, she collaborated within a team to analyze climate data, evaluate environmental trends, and provide insights for decision-making. Her research has extensively focused on understanding the complex relationships between urban landscape patterns and respiratory health. Through this work, she explored how urbanization influences environmental quality, public health outcomes, and community well-being, highlighting the importance of evidence-based interventions for sustainable urban development.

Linda holds a master’s degree in Mathematical Sciences with a specialization in Data Science, where she developed expertise in advanced analytical techniques, machine learning, statistical modeling, and big data analytics. Her master’s thesis, Image-Based Computer Vision for Credit Scoring, involved designing and implementing deep learning models to predict financial credit risk using image data. This project showcased her ability to integrate domain knowledge with cutting-edge artificial intelligence techniques, combining computer vision, neural networks, and predictive modeling to solve real-world problems in the financial sector. She also gained proficiency in Python, R, and other data analysis tools, which enabled her to handle complex datasets and deliver actionable insights.

Currently, Linda is expanding her professional experience through an internship at Climate Adaptation Research & Consulting (CARC), a PlanAdapt affiliate. CARC focuses on building Rwanda’s capacity to manage climate risks by developing locally relevant adaptation solutions. The organization emphasizes action-oriented research, capacity development, and advisory services to support public, private, and not-for-profit organizations in integrating climate risk considerations into various sectors, such as agriculture, water, urban planning, and infrastructure. Linda is actively involved in these initiatives, contributing to projects that aim to enhance climate resilience and promote sustainable development. Her work aligns with CARC’s mission to shape the next generation of climate adaptation professionals and researchers in Rwanda.
